Soul Searcher is at an all time low today. The low spiritual energy is accredited to some events that are taking place as I pen.

These incidents are affecting the EGO while I witness and acknowledge it.

A rather strange conversation I had with two people yesterday showed me how easily we consider EGO as an intrinsic part of us.

I hate to blow your bubble, but the EGO is something that is not part of you, it does not have to be.

Look closely and you will realize that EGO is the culprit behind our unhappiness.

We are constantly being taught to compare ourselves with others and match their standards.
When we measure against another, and we feel lower EGO kicks in to make you feel bad about yourself and it is released as jealousy, while some others begin to feel sorry for themselves. On the other hand, when you realize you are better than someone else, you feel elated, EGO takes its place again and brings it a step higher, becoming conceit.

In both scenarios, you lose your rooted-ness and imbalance your body and mind.

How do you identify the ego, you ask?

When you start out, it would seem difficult to identify because we have lived with ego, so closely, we cannot see ourselves separate from it. But, therein lies the delight, for the ego-less is akin to a newborn for it sees no need for the ego and in turn delights all around it.

Watch your conversations with the people around you. At any point in time when you feel lower or higher than the other person, that is the EGO.

When you express an opinion that does not improve the situation in any way that is EGO.

If you feel a certain satisfaction in letting someone in on a gossip, that is the EGO.

Once you spot these patterns, you will slowly learn how to identify the EGO in all its other forms.

The identifying of the EGO does not have to be a serious process. Realise that you are learning to tap into your essence and so enjoy it!

When you identify the EGO surfacing smile at it, laugh at the way the ego makes you think of yourself. Laugh at the way it seems so stupid to succumb to the voice in your head!

I for one, devised my own way of identifying my ego that excites me! Every time I sense the ego surface i go WHOHOO! (though, it is not my intention to scare away those in close range of me).
And if I cant express it out loud I just smile!

Immediately the ego subsides. This IS awareness.

I am not asking you to suppress it, because curbing the ego causes it to rise some more, just like a ball pressured under water.

But rather, accept it and acknowledge it.

Being aware of the ego enables you to become more humble and receptive to your environment.
Thus, opening up a world of possibilities that was shut off because of a terrorist in your head.

We are constantly driven by a need to Succeed. Every minute of the day, we are overcome by thoughts to Succeed in all possible ways (no matter how minimal and insignificant it may seem).

For example, everyday events such as getting a seat in the crowded bus, overtaking another car in traffic , going ahead of the other guy in lunch queues, these small incidents unconsciously make us feel good, and give us an ego boost that we beat the other guy to it, that we Succeeded in reaching our goal before him.

Watch, be still and observe these incidents everyday, all around you.

We fail to realize however, that Success cannot be found in the outer realm. The Success that is spoken about is material Success. And when you examine closely, the Success would have brought with it years of hardship, negativity, disappointment, anxiousness, anger, sorrow, etc.

And when you finally taste Success, it would seem you have achieved what you set out to do, but before you know it you are caught in another cycle to amplify your stature in the society (Eckhart Tolle explains this in detail in his book : A New Earth, Awakening to Your Life’s Purpose).

You must know and understand that we are the epitome of Success. YOU beat millions of other sperms to reach the egg.

YOU ARE SUCCESS!

Success need not be material. Success is every small little thing you did that made you or another person around you feel warm and happy.

Success is when you do small little things everyday, in the NOW that leads you to your goal.

The Successful Now constitutes to an eventful outcome.

And these little tasks, do not bring you the negativity that I mentioned earlier.

You will then realize, these small little tasks you do, in any type of occupation you may be in, will give you satisfaction. It will definitely not stress you out.

Success is when you smile at that person who pushed you to get a seat, Success is when you allowed the guy to get in front of you in traffic, Success is when you let the guy buy his lunch first.

The happiness you will feel when you let go of ego is what Success must feel like.

And it is very likely, that the person on the receiving end is going to pass it on to someone else thus creating a chain of positive events.

Be amazed at how easily you can cause a chain reaction that will allow numerous people to smile at least for a split second! And these are people you would have never even met! And possibly you would never ever meet in your life!

The opposite is also true. A negative action on your part, showing someone else your disappointment, anger etc can cause a chain of events that will also affect someone you never met.

I believe your heart would fancy the former.

SMILE! For Life IS SUCCESS.

And CELEBRATE!

While travelling today i felt this amazing feeling of 'new-ness'.

Something I have never felt before, and surely something you would begin to feel when you observe, watch and be still (i must say i am still getting used to this).

I felt like i was born again today. And i observed my surroundings and the objects, people and the nature in its totality!

Often, when we get used to doing a certain job, chore for a long long time, we almost perfect it and go into a mode of unconciousness, so much so we can do it with our eyes closed. When you are in this mode, (through my own experiences as well) your mind starts to wander to other thoughts, emotions or more important events. And also because of this, we lose the sense of satisfaction or happiness when we do the habitual chore, and we begin to find it a bore.

I believe in this entirely - Pretend. Today when you do something that you do routinely, pretend you do not know anything about it. Pretend you are learning it for the first time and the key is, SMILE when you do it.

Try this out - but remember to strip yourself of all the scepticism although this is natural when you start out, it is the mind's way of telling you to avoid trying to make yourself happy (i will explain this in later entries.)

Try it out and Trust.

Good Luck!

I am NOBODY.

I feel great pleasure in saying this though it may be weird and illogical to the everyday man. I say this because, I was a normal student, I tried my best to be the cream of the crop and all that but something in me always asked me why. Why did I have to follow these rules, concepts and paths set by generations before? But as the society has taught us well, I buried these questions.

The search for the Truth began in my teens.

Every day from my school to the MRT station I walked. Almost all the time alone, and even when I was with someone I was alone .It was the long stretch that aroused a certain curiosity I was not new to.

And day by day as I walked that stretch, I looked up into the skies and often talked to myself (I tried not to make it obvious to anyone else of course) sometimes smiling and other times just in awe.

I vividly remember the first few questions I asked. Who am I? Why am I here? What am I doing? And who is God?

Many of us have surely asked these within ourselves. But never had time to find the answers or more importantly, never wondered where these questions were coming from.
I searched aimlessly for these questions.

When I knew I could not ask anyone else these questions, I came up with possible answers on my own. And many years later I will come to know that these answers were so close to the truth.

And now as I write this, changes have taken place at an alarming rate.

At this point, I also need to mention that the reason for this growth is a certain group of people who have come close to the truth and who are searching for the truth.

Coming to the blog now, I think, or rather I hope this would help a lot of other people in their own journey to find the truth beyond what is.

This will also serve as a means for me to release my spiritual energy, happiness and joy and I promise to pen my experiences on a weekly basis.

Once again – I hope this will give you an insight to the lives of the people on the journey to seek the truth, and spark an interest in you to steer towards it as well.

Signing off,
Soulsearcher

PS: I am also pleased to let you know that there are many talks and seminars that you can attend (conducted by an influential and amazingly humble group of people) to begin your journey. I will keep you updated of these events in time to come. The above served as a catalyst that resurrected my journey.
